Compatibility and Sound One of the most important things to think about is how your baby's name sounds when it's said aloud. Is it easy on the ear or does it sound coarse? Does it go well with your last name? Often, shorter last names work better with longer first names, and vice versa. Don't end the first name in a vowel that is the same letter that begins the last name, because then the names seems to run together. Avoid names that rhyme like Bill Trill. And never give your child a name that is a pun, like 'Holly Wood' or 'Bud Weiser'. You may think it's cute at the time, but they won't think so as they're growing up.
